An unmet need...
Many Catholic parents, students, parishes, and schools in the Bay Area have expressed the need for a new Catholic high school. There are 11 Catholic high schools in the greater Houston Area, by the Bay Area is in a stretch of approximately 60 miles between the two closet Catholic high school options.
In 2022, a group of dedicated parents and community members set out to determine what it would take to establish a local Catholic high school. With support from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, this group conducted a thorough feasibility assessment of the Bay Area Deanery.
In spring 2024, the feasibility study was delivered to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools and a presentation of the findings and recommendations made to the Catholic Schools Board. This was followed by a meeting with His Eminence, Cardinal DiNardo, Bishop Italo, and other leaders at the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
In late spring, approval to proceed with next steps in establishing a new Catholic high school was granted.
